Active Speakers (Built-In Amplifier)

An active speaker, also known as a powered speaker or self-powered speaker, is a speaker system that incorporates its own built-in amplifier. Unlike passive speakers, which require an external amplifier to produce sound, active speakers have the amplifier integrated into the speaker enclosure.

Active speakers can be in-ceiling, freestanding or portable types, and use Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to connect to mobile devices for audio playback and streaming. All active speakers require mains power, however portable models also feature a rechargeable battery for true wireless operation.
