Grand Designs: Cefn Castell Ceiling Speaker System
Channel 4’s Grand Designs is back with a bang tonight at 9pm featuring a ceiling speaker system for the Cefn Castell. The design is an ultra modern glass and render edifice with panoramic views along the coast of the Llyn Peninsular and a Sonos and BluCube sound system specified by our experts.
As with all Grand Design projects, the finished product is radically stylish and the system needed to be top notch while not distracting attention from the clean, minimalist interior. Unlike many Grand Design projects, there was no drama in the specification and delivery of the Cefn Castel ceiling speaker sound system!
With such an expansive space and so many hard surfaces, quality was key as second rate ceiling speakers would have sounded tinny. BluCube’s CXCL-800 ceiling speakers feature 8″ Kevlar bass drivers that offer a warm sound ideal for acoustically hard areas, and a deep bass response that was key to delivering high quality sound in the large living area. Because there was insufficient mounting depth for the BluCube speakers in one part of the room, we supplied KEF ultra-thin speakers for use in that area. As we’ve previously mentioned, these are the slimmest ceiling speakers on the market.
The Sonos Connect: Amp used is wireless, compact and extremely easy to use via a free smart phone or tablet app. The hardest thing will be selecting music that does justice to the amazing view!
